My name is Monique
A homeschool mom to three wonderful children, Monique Leonardo Carlos is a teacher and entrepreneur who loves working with families and children. Born in the Philippines, she and her family immigrated to Canada bringing along her collection of over 600 picture books. She now lives in beautiful British Columbia with her husband, three kids, two dogs, and hamster.
Storyteller
While It's Okay, Just Ask is Monique's debut children's book with Owlkids Books, she also co-produced the Saffi Squirrel Books to help teach children and families about being Money Smart.
Monique is an experienced speaker, having held many workshops, presentations, and visits, sharing knowledge with teachers, parents, and children of all ages.
Mom
Monique enjoys finding new nature trails to walk, visits to the beach (sitting on the sand, not swimming), and trying out new recipes to cook or bake. She and her kids love homeschooling, learning in their travels, exploring tide pools, and visiting beautiful, local bookstores.
Other Hats
Prior to immigrating, Monique worked as an elementary teacher and eventually built her very own preschool. In Canada, she continued to work with children and families as an ECE, Executive Director for a non-profit organization, and speaker to many parent, educator, and student workshops. Nowadays she keeps busy homeschooling, running small businesses, and mulling over topics for future stories.
